Tournaments

"You don't have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things - to compete. You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals." - Sir Edmund Hillary

Go-Kan-Ryu regularly conducts non-contact tournaments at regional, state, national and international levels. Tournaments are designed to give students an extra dimension to their training. It provides an opportunity to compete in both kata and kumite divisions.

In a tournament, students are divided into divisions by both age and grade. That is, you will only compete against students who are of a similar age and a similar grade.

GKR tournaments at State level usually have between 200-400 competitors. The last two GKR World Cups have had over 1000 competitors – make sure in you are the next one!
