  • Start the kata with a bow - Remember a bow should be slow and respectful. Keep your hands and elbows against your side. Bend from the waist between 30-45 degrees, pause very briefly as your eyes fix on the ground about 3m in front of you, and then return to the upright position. Bring both hands to in front of your groin, left on right, and then step out into heiko-dachi as your fists close.

  1. Step forward into migi sanchin-dachi and execute double uchi-uke - Step forward smoothly and lock your stance in strongly. Let your arms move smoothly up and out before locking strongly in place.

  2. Return your left hand to the side before executing hidari chudan-tsuki - Pull the hand back slowly keeping your whole body relaxed and strong before firing it out with power.

  3. Step forward into hidari sanchin-dachi and execute double uchi-uke. Return your right hand to the side before executing migi chudan-tsuki.

  4. Step forward into migi sanchin-dachi and execute double uchi-uke. Return your left hand to the side before executing hidari chudan-tsuki.

  5. Step back into hidari zenkutsu-dachi and execute hidari gedan-shuto-barai - Prepare to the shoulder with a slight pause before blocking sharply.

  6. Step forward into migi zenkutsu-dachi and execute gedan-juji-shuto-uke - move swiftly and block sharply, the right hand just before the left.

  7. Hidari mae-geri, migi mae-geri stepping into migi zenkutsu-dachi with migi hijiate then gyaku-tsuki - Both kicks need to be fast but controlled maintaining a balanced body height. Move forwards into stance rather than falling down and both strikes are dynamic.

  8. Step back turning to the left, yoko kangetsu-geri, turn to the back, hidari sanchin-dachi, hidari uchi-uke - Maintain balance and height while preparing the kick. Thrust it down hard before a sharp return and smooth transition into stance. Strong block.

  9. Migi mae-geri stepping into migi zenkutsu-dachi, hijiate, gyaku-tsuki

  10. Step back turning to the left, yoko kangetsu-geri, step back into hidari sanchin-dachi, hidari uchi-uke

  11. Migi mae-geri stepping into migi zenkutsu-dachi, hijiate, gyaku-tsuki

  12. Step back turning to the left, yoko kangetsu-geri, turn around, hidari sanchin-dachi, hidari uchi-uke

  13. Migi mae-geri stepping into migi zenkutsu-dachi, hijiate, gyaku-tsuki

  14. Step across into shiko-dachi and execute gedan-juji-uke - Kiai!

  15. Step back around into shiko-dachi and execute gedan-juji-uke - Kiai!

  16. Step forward around into shiko-dachi and execute jodan-age-tsukami-uke - Move and prepare swifty before letting the arm rise up slowly and finish with strength.

  17. Step back and then forward into migi sanchin-dachi and execute awase-tsuki - Time your technique with the locking of your stance.

  18. Step across, turning around into hidari sanchin-dachi and execute uchi-uke

  19. Step forward into migi sanchin-dachi and execute uchi-uke

  20. Step forward around into shiko-dachi and execute jodan-age-tsukami-uke

  21. Step back and the forward into hidari sanchin-dachi and execute awase-tsuki

  22. Drop your hands, turn around to your right into migi shiko-dachi and execute age-keito-uke - Move swifty and lock the stance in strongly, then finish with the final block slow and strong.
