Improving focus and energy
"I just try to be the best I can be" -
Tiger Woods
Learning karate is a challenging endeavour. Perfecting karate and reaching
our full potential requires significant focus and energy. So how do you improve
your focus and energy levels? First, be aware of them, for you can't determine
the way home unless you first know where you are. Second, have faith in
yourself. If you believe that things could be better for you, then there will be
a way for you to improve. Third, set your goals. Without a destination in mind,
our direction can vary and our energy will not be spent efficiently. Finally,
there is no substitute for hard work. Just do it.

Here are a few words of wisdom that you find useful:
-
"Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command
when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives." -
Anthony Robbins
-
"Focus on remedies, not faults." -
Jack Nicklaus
-
"I try to learn from the past, but I plan for the future by focusing
exclusively on the present. That's were the fun is." - Donald
Trump
-
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought." -
Buddha
-
"You can't depend on your judgement when your imagination is out of focus."
- Mark Twain
-
"Focus on where you want to go, not on what you fear." -
Anthony Robbins
Here are a few tips and ideas that can make a difference as well:
-
Sleep well -
Sleep deprivation is the most
common cause of low energy and fatigue. If you have to wake up early in the
morning, go to sleep earlier in the evening. Going to bed even 30 minutes
earlier can make a huge difference in your energy levels during the day!
-
Drink more water - Being
dehydrated makes you feel tired and irritable. If you are not thirsty, that
does not mean that you drink enough water. By the time you feel thirsty it's
too late - you are already dehydrated.
-
Reduce clutter - Clutter causes
stress and saps away energy. Dump all unnecessary stuff in a big garbage can,
and you'll be able to breathe easier and have more energy. You don't have to
be super-organised, but you can't expect success if part of your life in is
ruins (literally).
-
Take a break - Sitting in the
chair all day can make you feel stiff and tired, and then you'd feel too lazy
to get up, creating a vicious cycle of inactivity. If you have a desk job or
do something equally inactive, remember to take regular breaks - get up, go
for a walk.
-
Break your routine - Don't do
the same thing everyday. Boredom saps your energy, so do something new on a
regular basis.
-
Get enough "me" time - Make
sure you allow yourself the time to just be yourself, by yourself. Its
important to allow yourself the chance to re-charge the batteries.
-
Get enough "friend" time - Make
sure you talk and interact with someone regularly. I mean really talk to them.
Don't let negative issues and energy bottle up inside.
-
Get fit - everything in your
life will improve if your body and mind are working more efficiently.
