Insurance
GKR adopts insurance programs to cover both students and instructors under the care and control of GKR should injury be inflicted in any GKR run or organised event.
The insurance is based around negligence or fault, meaning that all occurrences are covered except for those that are a result of pure accident where there has been no negligence involved. It is important that all active members of GKR take responsible to ensure they are at minimal risk of injury or harm by adhering to GKR's safety protocols, using appropriate safety equipment and following instructor directions.
Liability insurance covers all GKR instructors, protecting them from claim. Member to member cover also exists, meaning that if the injury is caused by an interaction with another student, the injured party is covered so long as it occurred during participation in a GKR supervised class or activity.
At this stage "no fault", sick and accident coverage is not provided by GKR due to the substantial premiums. In addition, many student may already have sick leave, medical & accident cover and we consider it unfair to ask these people for a further contribution by means of higher class fees towards those who are not covered. It is expected that students choosing to undertake an active sport are aware that accidents do happen occasionally and personal arrangements for their own circumstances are made.
